Karnataka State Weightlifting ASSOCIATION

The association was formed in 1934, with the initiative from MPL Swamy, Mr Iyer, Sri Vishwanath Shastry, SS Jerrgay, HV Satyanarayana and V Nagaraj. In the early stages, Swamy demonstrated the methods of weightlifting. Initially, there was one-hand snatch press, clean and jerk and snatch, as a part of the competitions but after 1972, two hands clean and jark were remained, informed Hon Secretary – D Chandrahas Rai, who has been working president for the last 18 years with the association. He was All India Federation Secretary (2012-2016) and Vice president of Karnataka Olympic Association.
