Introducing common mental techniques

 

Rita is a twelve-year-old girl who has been playing table tennis since she was nine. She plays well and has won a few tournaments. However, she admits that her confidence rises when she takes a lead in the match but feels like giving up when she starts losing points. Even a minor mistake bothers her making her impatient and error-prone. Thoughts of failure and poor performance occupy her mind. Such thoughts interfere with her ability to focus and she ends up losing the match.
