‘Focus on the process is the key to sucess’

Behind every successful sportsperson, there is relentless support, motivation and sacrifices from their parents. Sports Champ features stories of such incredible parents who choose the right path for their young ones.
The 16-year-old Diya Chitale has a remarkable journey from district tournament to become a member of the Olympic Gold Quest mission programme.
“Every year we enjoy some family time with our relatives on a vacation and most favourite for everyone is to play table tennis. I believe that’s where Diya got hitched to the sport. Soon she picked it up nicely and started performing well in the tournaments,” said her father Parag Chitale.
When the Chitale family realised, Diya’s passion for the sport is not limited to some recreational activity they enrolled her name in to Sachin Shetty Academy. The move paid off, as Diya started on a good note, winning a bronze medal in her first-ever district level tournament. “It’s quite important that we as parents need to identify the inclinations of our kids,” said Parag.
