First blind solo paraglider – Divyanshu Ganatra
Visually impaired Divyanshu Ganatra has been into the limelight for his extraordinary feats. He is the first blind solo paraglider and the first blind tandem cyclist in the World to pedal Manali to Khardung La in the Himalayas. His NGO – Adventure Beyond Barriers Foundation spreads awareness that the spirit of adventure is not impeded by disability.
In August 2016, visually-impaired cyclist Divyanshu Ganatra set out with a sighted captain to pedal from Manali to Khardung La in the Himalayas, a length of 550 kilometres that the team completed in just eight days. He became the first blind tandem cyclist to accomplish the feat. Divyanshu, who lost his eyesight to glaucoma when he was nineteen years old, previously had become the first blind solo paraglider in 2014.
