More than 2500 players, 1200 clubs and 200 qualified coaches are registered with AFA
Assam Football Association was formed in 1946 with the initiative of former President of India, Fakaruddin Ali Ahmed, Advocate PK Lahiri, Anna Ram Baruah, Animesh Ganguly Binoy Bali and KD Hazarika. Assam Football Association has organised several inter-district football tournaments and participated in Santosh Trophy since its inception.
