The first Indian to win production cup in Asia Pacific Rally, Sanjay Takale is into motorsports for over 33 years. In his long career, he has observed many changes in the field and feels that Indian youngsters must pursue a career in the motorsports industry. In his interview with Sports Champ, he speaks about his experiences
How was the scenario back then when you started competing in motorsports?
I am from a small village Manjri, near Hadapsar. My family is into agriculture and after graduation, I became a passionate adventurer. I did backpacking and travelled to many countries and meanwhile took motorsports as a career. I started with two-wheelers and won more than 75 trophies from 1987 to 2001. Ashtavinayak Rally, Indore Motocross, Poona Motocross, Poona Dirt Track, Seizers Action Rally, Coimbatore, NASA Rally, Nasik, MASA Rally, Mumbai are to name a few. Then after a gap of six years ventured into the four-wheel segment.
