City-based skater Vikram Ingale is a classic example who has lived this quote. From career-threatening injuries to international gold medal portray his struggle. In an interview with Sports Champ, the 26-year-old shares his hardships and passion for the sport.
The initial struggles
My skating journey started in 2000 in Kolhapur in one school with no proper infrastructure. Soon I gained interest and started racing small events but there was not a single rink so I used to train on tar roads. My first race was quite memorable as I failed to finish after my skating lace came out. Fortunately, a coach from Pune convinced officials to give me another chance and I justified the opportunity by winning the race. This triggered my coach from Kolhapur and he demotivated me.
